windy weekend

it was a great weekend of birthday celebrations and culture for us recently in chicago. we headed down there with our friendly neighbors jamie and drew. after a night out with friends for some birthday celebrations, we headed to the aquarium on saturday.

mmmm yummy! i did have a waffle for breakfast here, but admit i was not adventurous enough for the chicken, i just stuck with strawberries :)

waiting in line (kinda our theme of the day) it was super busy thanks to spring break and it being a saturday, but worth it!

awww, such a cute couple. trying to stay warm here (love the hair drew!)

lighting in the entry

you cant see them, but there were plenty of really big fish in there with this guy too

fine food

Ah, as we  are in a "re-invention" stage (dog training lessons-aka dog owners traning, photography lessons, and cooking lessons) we got up the courage to cook our first completely from scratch fancy meal! Thanks to Kelli and Richard for their inspiration, being so encouraging, and directions. Our menu was as follows (everything made from scratch/as much as it could be and fresh):
Stawberry Lemonade
Bread with extra virgin olive oil and freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Salad with apples and a homemade vinegrette
Ginger broccoli and cauliflower dish
Mashed Potatoes (our one "easy" dish)
and a breadcusted sirloin roast
If I may so myself, it was all delicious, and it only took me about 5 hours to prepare.
Thanks to a few of our family members who were willing to risk a dinner for our first ever roast dinner!

whew! glad that is over, maybe we will just stick with frozen pizzas... just kidding :)
